Next Agent

Posted as part of Radioactive challenge on Ficly.com.  I tweaked it a bit from the original post because I have a little more room here. And, because I can.  So there.

Alrighty! I’ve had the song by Imagine Dragons, stuck in my head for a couple weeks. Then I saw a official video of it and thought to myself, ‘Hey! This could be great inspiration for a story!!’

So, I dare you copy/paste the link below, watch the video, and let a ficly or two flow from it.

You have a month.

The Video:

Lou drove. Not like he did when his kids were strapped into the child seats. He drove like he did twenty years ago. Guiding the new roadster into the first curves of Topanga Canyon, his foot pressed firmly to the floor, his heart raced. It was freedom. The kind he hadn’t felt over a long career playing Mexican drug lords or stereotypical teenage superstars. The veneer of resentment, carefully cultivated over the years, had hardened into an impenetrable shell impervious to joy.

The cacophonous mix of wind and machine was interrupted by the shrill ring of his cell phone. Pushing down the urge to chuck it into the ocean and as he rounded a sharp curve, he set the phone on the top of the steering wheel and swiped at with his middle finger. It was his agent, Al.  Good news for a change?

“Al! What’s up?” answered Lou.

“Lou! Good news, I booked a music video,” said Al.

Music Video? They still do those? Lou thought. “Video? For what band.”

“Yeah! It’s a popular young band, the Imagine Dragons. The kids really DIG it!”

He could use a little street cred. “Huh…well, pitch it.”

“Okay; you’re a the kingpin leader of an underground, killer-muppet fighting ring …”

Al’s voice faded as the phone sailed over the cliff and into the air.
